Artist Statement

Working in Clay, Stone, and Plaster Chris Fletcher creates sculptures to enjoy. Though he works in several mediums all his pieces have one common feature, they have an organic feel to them. When looking at one of Chris's sculptures you can see long lines and soft curves drawing your eye around the sculpture. The types of sculptures created by Chris are animals, human figure, and abstract.

Chris has been creating sculpture for 32 years in clay, 30 years in stone, and 25 years in Plaster. He has been a member of the Santa Barbara Sculptors Guild since 1997. In 2000 he became a director of the Association of Lifecasters International.

Chris has been in many shows since 1997 most of them have been with the Santa Barbara Sculptors Guild. He has shown his stone carvings and lifecastings in these shows.

Chris produces his sculpture for his own pleasure and has been pleasantly surprised to find that others find his sculpture enjoyable. Not having to produce art based on someone else's ideas and to their schedule allows much more creative freedom in selecting the medium and the subject of the sculpture.
